Who are the 144,000?
Page 2

The Bible book of revelation refers to a group known as the 144,000. These 144,000 creatures are also known as saints. These saints are men and women who lived a life on the earth and whom Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ, are choosing to form a government for the new kingdom. The same kingdom Jesus Christ preached about.

A special opportunity came when Jesus Christ, the Son of God was crucified. He fulfilled the law - an old agreement, or covenant which Moses taught. Instead, a new agreement has now been revealed to mankind through the preaching of Jesus Christ and His Apostles, it is now understood that some people will become a spirit creature, or saint. The saints will make up a special government to direct the new kingdom in perfect righteousness and judgment.

You may ask, "What is the purpose of God only allowing 144,000 people to heaven?" or, "Is not this unfair to all the people who lived before Jesus Christ? Only allowing those who lived after his death to be allowed into heaven?" You may also ask, "If only 144,000 people go to heaven, what will everybody else do?" For answers to these questions, and others, please contact us for additional Bible verses to help prove or disprove these ideas. We encourage discussion and look forward to hearing from you!

 144,000 - The Saints

Matthew 11:11  The least of the saints is greater than John the Baptist. How? Saints are spiritual creatures that will rule from heaven with Jesus Christ, John the Baptist will be a man dwelling on the earth. Although a great man, he will not be a saint.

Luke 16:16  John the Baptist preached the coming of the Messiah. Jesus Christ preached the coming of the new kingdom and how to be part of it. (Press = Work towards)

Revelation 14:1-4  The saints are made up of people who once lived on the earth.

Revelation 20:4-6  The saints will rule with Christ, judgment is given to them.

Daniel 7:18,27  The kingdom is given to the saints, it will last forever.
how is one a saint if all were born sinners?
All mankind has sinned. Only Jesus the Christ is without sin. Read (1John 1:7-9) If one desires to become a saint he must acknowledge & forsake his sins, then they are forgiven him through the blood of Christ. If they are forgiven then the sin no longer exists and one has a chance to become a saint. Paul called himself a chief sinner for pursecuting Christians. (1 Timothy 1:15-16) And Paul will be one of the saints.

After one of the 144,000 are sealed what does he do for God while the other ones are being sealed. Think about it. He knows who he is. He has know idea about how long he will wait until the last one is sealed. He knows he isn't perfect and he also knows that he has to become more christ like.

Revelation 6:9-11
And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

I believe the above quotation will help answer your question regarding what a saint does while he is waiting for his brethren to be resurrected. Are not all saints sealed at the same time? I am confused by the last sentence of this comment. Could you please support your statement with a scripture? (I am familiar with Revelation 7:1-8) Thank You.

We the Gentiles,(which is anyone who is not a Jew)are not included in this number.

Leilani please consider the following scriptures based on your comment above. Please contact us if you have more questions or comments.

But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God.

Gentiles can become a Spiritual Jew, a Jew circumcised from the heart.

For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Romans 2:10-11,28-29

Paul the Apostle to the Gentiles' call to the Saints in Rome.

Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 1:6-7

Again, Paul the Apostle to the Gentiles' message to the Colossians.

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Colossians 1:12-14

Reading your comments, I question one's answer to the elected 144,000. This number is for the followers(Jews) that believe in Jesus til his second coming. We the Gentiles,(which is anyone who is not a Jew)are not included in this number. Jesus died that all men might be saved not just the 144,000. You see, the promises where to his people, the Jews first but because they had rejected him he made it possible for all of us to receive that great promise for everlasting life.
This last statement is confusing, could you please clarify for me?
Some say that the 144,000 are are of the 12 ancient tribes of Israel. The ancient tribes of Israel were set up in Genesis and were under the law given by Moses. This occurred years before Christ was sent to the earth to be born of Mary.

In Revelation 14:1-4 it speaks of the 144,000 and it says "These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth." These 144,000 are Christians who follow the Lamb (Jesus Christ). Christians did not exist until after Christ. This is one reason why the 144,000 cannot be people from the 12 ancient tribes. The 144,000 (or Saints) will be assigned to 12 tribes as written in Revelation 7, but they cannot be ones from Moses' time.

Every person living after Jesus Christ's first coming (in which he brought a new covenant-the new testemant) has an oppurtunity to be a part of the 144,000 if they desire it.

It helps to understand that there are only 144,000 that will go to heaven. The rest of God's people will live forever on a perfect earth (The meek shall inherit the earth). This is a key to understanding what the Kingdom of God is. It is an actual Kingdom (like a Government) that will take care of the earth and it's people in righteousness after the second coming of Christ.

It is not correct to say they are literal jews of the ancient tribes, if they in fact followed after Christ?

Here some other verses that speak of the 144,000. Revelation 20:4-6, Daniel 7:18,27, 1 Corinthians 6:2-3. There are many more that speak of the 144,000, the Saints. The previous post says "it is obvious that the 144,000 are literal Jews of the ancient tribes". Is it obvious? The 12 twelve tribes mentioned in Revelation are not the same 12 tribes of israel that Moses wrote about in Genesis 49. God's people are no longer literal Jews, they are now spiritual Jews, see Romans 2:10-11, 28-29. The 144,000 are chosen from the time after Christ, "These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth." (Revelation 14:4). It is not correct to say they are literal jews of the ancient tribes, if they in fact followed after Christ?

This sounds like Jehovah's Witness Theology to me. The Watchtower organization states that through good works and sincere effort only 144,000 elite JW’s will go to heaven. The 144,000 are mentioned in two chapters in the Bible: Revelation 7 & 14. By looking at the verses it is obvious that the 144,000 are literal Jews of the ancient tribes with no Gentiles among them (7:4-8). They are all males (14:4) and virgins (14:4). If you say that the usage of Jewish male virgins is figurative, what gives you the right to state that number of 144,000 is literal? What about "the vast mulitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, wich no one could number" (7:9)? I think you better work on your Hermeneutic.Deductive! Deductive! Deductive! Exegesis! Exegesis! Exegesis!
