Book of Life

Almighty God has been keeping a record. It is a book of names, a detailed list of all those who are to receive eternal life. Many books have been written about God's word, and many scholars have analyzed the Bible, but the Book of Life is the most important book. The book of life is not a physical book. Those people whose names are found written in the book of life will live forever. Actions committed by each individual are recorded; these will be brought into remembrance and used at a final judgment day. Everyone who has lived will be judged according to what is recorded in “the books.” Having your name written in the book of life ensures your entrance into Almighty God's righteous kingdom.

The Book of Life

Exodus 32:31-33  Moses knew of the existence of Jehovah's book of life, and realized a person's name could be removed (blotted out) from it.

Psalms 69:27-28  It is important to remain faithful to the one true God. Not doing so could result in one's name being removed from God's book of life.

Daniel 12:1-2  All of the dead will be raised for judgment, and some of them will receive everlasting life.

Malachi 3:16-18  Those who fear Almighty God Jehovah, calling on His name and serving Him, will be found written in the book of remembrance.

Revelation 13:4-9  A person whose name is not in the book of life will serve the beast.

Revelation 20:11-15  Many books are opened, one of them being the Book of Life. The dead are judged according to their works. Those not found written in the Book of Life will be thrown into the lake of fire.

I like to think of myself as a spiritual Jew (Romans 2:28-29) but I am not Jewish raised or born.

Thanks Bernie; I believe there will be people in Heaven from all walks of life. With your name I would have guessed you are Jewish and you may be, no problem. Reminds me of in 1977; my boss sent me a memo advising a Mr. Felder would be coming as a trainee for some time with me. I thought jokingly to myself "I didn't know that Jews would work for what we are paid". Well Mr Felder called in a few days and even tho he spoke very eloquently, I could tell he was a Black nan. We hit it off very, very well and I even related my thoughts to him about thinking he was Jewish, He replied "I am and I am the only Christian in my entire family". Wow, what a revelation. He told me a very interesting story about the Black Jews in Africa and their coming to America.
I see that you are an adminstrator; I would like to post my testimony which is about 1 3/4 typed pages long; what do you think???

When a child is born he/she is recorded in God's Book of Life as per Exodus 32:31&32.
31 “So Moses went back to the LORD and said, "Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold.
32 Yet now, please forgive their sin—but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written."
Even so, the child has a one-way ticket to hell EXCEPT for two circumstances as below:
1. The child/person dies before achieving the knowledge of accountability.
2. At some age and ONLY at the urging/prompting of the Holy Spirit the person accepts and confesses Jesus Christ as personal Savior at which time his/her name is recorded in the Lamb's Book of Life and can never be blotted out.
REV. 3:5 “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
REV. 21:27 “But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”
Note; if the person dies after achieving accountability and before accepting/confessing Jesus Christ; the name is blotted from God's Book of Life.
REV. 20:15 “And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”

I would like to add to your statement and hope it meets with approval.

Your statement "2. At some age and ONLY at the urging/prompting of the Holy Spirit the person accepts and confesses Jesus Christ as personal Savior at which time his/her name is recorded in the Lamb's Book of Life and can never be blotted out.
REV. 3:5 “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels." needs a little clarification.

Revelation 3:5 said "he who overcomes". This means that anyone choosing to be a follower of Christ must endure until their end. It means a Christian can fall and have their name blotted out if they do not repent and endure. The saying, once saved always saved is not scriptural. The idea gives excuse to sin. We know we are forgiven our sins and have a great mediator to God, His Son Jesus Christ. However, we are accountable to what we do both good and bad. Therefore we must do our best to follow and listen to Christ. And when we do fall, we must learn from it and become better Disciples of Christ (overcome). Then are we clothed in white garments.

2 Corinthians 5:10
Psalm 69:28

If you knew, as Moses did, that your name could be blotted out of the Book of Life (Exodus 32:32-33), you would do your best to keep it in. To lose your life would mean that you made one or more choices that led you down a path that would cause your name to be blotted out. No one deliberately wants to encounter the plagues that will come upon the whole earth. We do our best to seek God's righteousness so that we do not receive a blot (Proverbs 9:7).

We do not judge the reward of any person; that is left up to the higher power of our King (Revelation 3:5, "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels").

We all fall short because we are all sinners, and that is why we continue to serve Jesus Christ and His Father, and are always thankful that He sheds His grace and mercy upon His people.

The problem with knowing your name can be "blotted" out of the Lamb's book of Life is the loss of eternal security. Rom 8:38 says that, "neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
So are you saying that my "life" can separate me from God's love? Because no one would be saved! Because we "all" fall short of the glory of God... daily.
How bad do I have to be before God blots my name?

what is the difference between the Book of Life and the Lamb's book of life?
— Guest User

These books, or an analogy of a book, are one and the same. It is referred to as the Lamb’s Book after the sacrifice of Jesus Christ who is the Lamb. The Father has given all judgment to His Son, Jesus Christ the Lamb of God (John 1:36, John 5:22).

(Revelation 13:8 KJV) And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

The Book of Life contains the names of those accounted righteous of God. The names not in the Book of Life do not receive eternal life. This is written in reference to the Book of Life and the Lamb’s Book of Life.

When the Bible refers to the Book of Life it says… (Revelation 20:15 KJV) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

When the Bible refers to the Lamb’s Book of Life it says… (Revelation 21:27 KJV) And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

To conclude the Book of Life and the Lamb’s Book of Life are one and the same.

The Book of Life can also be called just the Book, or the Book of the Living, or the Book of Remembrance.

(Exodus 32:32 KJV) Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

(Psalm 69:28 KJV) Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

(Malachi 3:16 KJV) Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

Question: If one is saved and baptisted as a younger adult and then doesnt lead his/her life as God wills it, can their name be removed from The Book of Life if they die while walking that wrong path?
— Guest User

Yes. Anyone who has made a committment to live their life as Jesus Christ intructs and then parts from doing that bears the possibility that their name may be removed from the Book of Life.

Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Jesus Christ and His Father have given man information recorded in the Bible on how to live forever. As Jesus Christ himself said, If you love me keep my commandments John 14:15. Do not believe doctrine that teaches "once saved always saved". We must endure and keep the faith (in that faith without works is dead) that Jesus Christ will return and establish the Kingdom of God, Luke 4:43.
